ROBES OF MANY COLORS!
“The royal daughter is all glorious within the palace; her clothing is woven with gold. She shall be brought to the King in robes of many colors” (Psalm 45:13, 14).
We can see many Spiritual garments in the Scripture. Through Salvation He clothes us with the garments of salvation (Isaiah 61:10). While receiving Baptism, He gives us the garments of righteousness. When we receive the anointment of the Holy Spirit, we wear the garments of power. He gives you the oil of joy and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness (Isaiah 61:3). His bride is clothed with fine linen which is clean and bright by Him (Revelation 19:8). But the most beautiful garment which God gives is one woven with gold and the robe of many colors.
Dear children of God, the call upon you is a special one. God has chosen you as His bride and as a virgin. You will grow and become perfect and receive Glory after glory at the time of the coming of Christ. He will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body (Philippians 3:21). What does ‘woven with gold’ mean? It denotes the holiness and the faith. If you protect your holiness and the faith, in spite of various tests and tribulations you will be rewarded with victory after victory. That will change into one woven with gold.
The next beautiful garment is the one with many colours (Psalm 45:14). Weaving and knitting this garment is not an easy task. The numerous prickings of the needle with threads of different colours beautify the garment. Of all other garments, this is the most expensive one. Similarly, in order to receive the perfection of Christ, when you finish your run successfully in spite of facing sufferings and tribulations, you will receive the robe of many colors.
See, Hannah who had been pierced by the harsh words of Peninnah became a woman of sorrowful spirit and she poured out her soul in her prayer to God. This moulded her personality into a divine one. It is the same with the Lily flower. It blossoms in the night in the midst of the thorns and even though the thorns may pierce and tear them, the white colour of the flower remains the same and nothing prevents its fragrance too. God said, “Like a lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters” (Song of Solomon 2:2). Similarly, God will rejoice over people who send forth their fragrance even in the midst of their sufferings.
Think of Christ who bore all the sufferings on the Cross of Calvary when you face sorrows and tribulations. At that time He did not even open His mouth. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter and as a sheep before its shearers is silent (Isaiah 53:7).
To meditate: “I clothed you in embroidered cloth and gave you sandals of badger skin” (Ezekiel 16:10).
